Coach Scott began his coaching career at Kendrick High School in Columbus, Georgia, as the defensive backfield coach under Head Coach Frank Sadler. In addition, Scott tutored four quarterbacks to All-State honors.
Coach Scott's record at the helm of Clarke Central's Track Program is equally impressive. He coached four Region Championship teams between 1983 and 1986 with his 1983 team finishing third in the state and his 1985 team finishing second. In 1984, Coach Scott guided the Gladiators to a State AAAA Championship and was named AAAA Track Coach of the Year by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association.
Upon his arrival in Carrollton, Coach Scott worked diligently as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. Under his leadership, the Booster Club raised over 4 million dollars and the athletic facilities at Carrollton High School are among the finest in the country. He compiled an impressive win-loss record of 143 and 25, and guided the Trojans to Regional Championships in 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1996, and 1997, and to the State AA Championship in 1998. The Trojans appeared in five semi-finals since 1990 and two State Championship Games. Coach Scott was named the 1998 AA Coach of the Year after the Trojans captured the 1998 State AA Championship.
